Minimum Age at Marbella Clubs: 16, 18 and the ID Rules

· Updated:

In Marbella, under-16s can't get into a nightclub by law, 16 and 17-year-olds can only get in where the club hasn't set an 18+ door, and nobody under 18 can be served alcohol. In practice, the Marbella clubs that publish an age rule say 18+ or decide it event by event, so if you're under 18, assume you won't get in unless the venue says otherwise. Whatever your age, take an original photo ID.

What the rules say in AndalucĂa

Marbella is in AndalucĂa, so the Andalusian admission regulation applies (Decreto 10/2003). It bans under-16s from entering or staying in discotecas, salas de fiesta and pubs and bars with music. The exception is the 'discoteca de juventud', a youth club format with its own conditions. Since a 2005 change (Decreto 119/2005), venues can also set an 18+ admission condition, with the authorisation the rules require, and several Marbella clubs do.

Alcohol is a separate rule. Andalusian law on drugs and addictions (Ley 4/1997, as reworded in 2003) bans selling or supplying alcohol to anyone under 18 and letting them drink inside the venue. So even in a club that lets 16 and 17-year-olds in, the bar can't serve them.

'Not published' doesn't mean anything goes. It means the club hasn't put a rule in writing that we can point you to, and the door decides on the night. We'd rather tell you that than copy an age from some third-party list that the club itself never stated.

Which ID gets you in

Fitz asks for a valid DNI, passport or driving licence, and CLOUD.9's listings ask for an original physical ID. That's the safe standard everywhere: Spanish or EU ID card, passport, or a photo driving licence. Bring the real thing, not a photocopy or a picture on your phone, and check it hasn't expired. If you're visiting from outside the EU, the passport is the one that never causes a discussion. The ID also has to match the name on your ticket or the list when the venue checks it.

Under 18 in Marbella: what you can do

Since a 2018 change to the admission rules, under-16s can go to a specific live concert in a concert venue if the organiser allows it, always with a legally responsible adult and only for the length of the show. That's for concerts, not club nights, so it doesn't open the door to the clubs in this guide. For 16 and 17-year-olds, the honest answer is that most Marbella club doors that state a rule are 18+. If you're planning a night out with someone in the group under 18, message us with the date and we'll tell you which venues, if any, would let them in.

Age and the dress code

Age and ID are only half of what a Marbella door checks; the other half is what you're wearing. Our dress code guide covers that club by club, and the Fitz page has its age and door rules for each event.
